We want everyone to be able to buy a cup here, including people using a screen reader, a keyboard, or a browser with animation turned off.
What we’ve done
- Keyboard — every link, button, filter, quantity control and the whole basket work with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus outline everywhere.
- Screen readers — semantic headings in order, labelled controls, alt text on product photography, and live announcements when something is added to your bag. The animated backgrounds are marked decorative and are skipped entirely.
- Reduced motion — if your device asks for reduced motion, the moving backgrounds hold still on a single frame, the marquee stops, and nothing fades in on scroll. Nothing is hidden as a result.
- Contrast — body and heading text is checked against its background to at least WCAG AA (4.5:1).
- Zoom and small screens — the layout reflows down to 320 px and you can zoom to 200% without losing content. Pinch zoom is never disabled.
- Touch — tap targets are at least 44 × 44 px.
- No WebGL? The decorative 3D falls back to a plain gradient. Nothing that matters lives inside it.
Where we know we fall short
- The checkout itself is Shopify’s and we don’t control its markup.
- Product photography comes from our print partner; alt text describes the design rather than every detail of the image.
